Akpabio’s Wife Files A N250Bn Defamation Suit Against Natasha Akpoti

March 1, 2025

In what seems like a response to senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s N100.3 billion defamation suit against her husband, the senate president, Godswill Akpanio, the wife, Ekaette Akpabio, has initiated a N250 billion defamation suit against, the senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The multiple lawsuits came after Akpoti-Uduaghan’s remarked during a Friday interview on Arise TV, that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had allegedly made sexual advances toward her both at his office in Abuja and private residence in Akwa Ibom.

Ekaette Akpabio, had in response to these claims, firmly rejected the allegations and described the senator’s accusations as “lies”, while asserting that her husband is a disciplined individual.

In seeking redress for what she described as “scandalous and salacious” comments, Ekaette Akpabio, filed a fundamental rights suit at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court. In which she claimed that the accusations have caused her and her children “emotional and psychological abuse.

The court is being asked to issue a restraining order, preventing Akpoti-Uduaghan from making further “spiteful” statements that infringe on Ekaette’s fundamental human rights.

Furthermore, Ekaette had requested that the court order the senator to publicly apologize, with the apology to be published in two national newspapers.

In the suit, she also seeks N1 billion in punitive and exemplary damages for the harm caused by the defamatory statements, as well as a perpetual injunction barring Akpoti-Uduaghan from making any further defamatory remarks against her family’s reputation.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is yet to make any public comment on the allegations made by Akpoti-Uduaghan or the suit she filed against him.
