Dr. Chima Anyaso Returns to Inspire: Delivers First-Ever Distinguished Alumni Lecture at EBSU…

Abakaliki, Nigeria – July 10, 2025-Ebonyi State University (EBSU) welcomed one of its most distinguished alumni, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, as he delivered the university’s first-ever Distinguished Alumni Lecture, marking a historic moment for the institution and its community.

Speaking on the theme “From Classroom to Boardroom – The Power of Education in Shaping Destiny”, Dr. Anyaso shared a heartfelt journey from his student days in the Faculty of Arts to becoming a leading entrepreneur, public policy advocate, and chairman of The CAADES Group.

“This university gave me more than an education—it gave me belief,” Dr. Anyaso stated to an auditorium filled with students, academic staff, and fellow alumni.

“I don’t stand before you as a perfect man, but as a living testimony.”

Despite graduating with a Third-Class degree in English and Literature in 2003, Dr. Anyaso recounted how he overcame early doubts to build a group of companies with investments spanning oil and gas, real estate, hospitality, and healthcare—generating over $1 billion in oil revenues and partnering with global firms like Vitol and Total.

His message resonated deeply: “Your result is not your reality. Greatness is not always born from accolades—it is forged in attitude.”

Dr. Anyaso’s lecture served not only as a personal reflection but also as a call to action for students to embrace education as a tool for transformation.

“Your classroom is not a shelter—it is a seedbed,” he told them. “Start now. Build something now.”

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ugota Awoke, praised Dr. Anyaso’s exemplary leadership and philanthropic work, describing him as “a role model for every student who doubts that greatness can grow from humble beginnings.”

The university plans to institutionalize the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series as an annual tradition, with Dr. Anyaso’s inaugural lecture setting a high standard.
