Akpabio Denies Natasha’s Sexual Harassment Allegations

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has finally broken his silence and denied the allegations of sexual harassment made against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Akpabio spoke on Wednesday during the Senate’s plenary session after a one-week break.

The senate president, said, “At no time did I ever harass any woman. I was raised very well by my late single mother and I have always upheld respect for women. I was even awarded the most gender-friendly governor in Nigeria.”

Akpabio said he had received several calls about the matter since February 25 and was also aware of the discussions on social media.

He advised Nigerians and the media against making conclusions, but urged them to wait for the outcome of court cases

As soon as Akpabio was done making his comments, Akpoti-Uduaghan officially raised a petition under Order 40, accusing him of sexual harassment and abuse of office.

She asked to humbly officially submit the petition to the Senate.

The Senate president accepted and referred the petition to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct for further investigation.
