February 13, 2025

The Anambra State Government on Wednesday sealed a shrine in Umuofor village, Okija, in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state, over Okeite, yahoo plus and other criminal activities, as it intensifies the fight against fake native doctors and criminality in the state.

The shrine, which was allegedly used by a notorious native doctor Ekene Igboegbueze to promise supernatural wealth, through Okeite and yahoo plus, was shut down due to complaints by residents of Okija.

Special Adviser to the governor, Ken Emeakai, said “The government sealed the place on account of complaints it received from the people of Okija.”

He explained that, under Anambra State Homeland Security Laws, Igboegbueze’s business was illegal noting that properties acquired with the proceeds of the illegal business have been sealed.

“All the items seen in the shrine will undergo forensic test and the outcome will determine what government will do with him.”

The Director of Operation for Agunechemba Security Outfit, Chinenye Ihenko, condemned the activities of fake native doctors and pastors promoting get-rich-quick syndrome mentality in the state and warned youths against patronizing fake native doctors and pastors, urging them to instead pursue legitimate ventures.

Ihenko, reiterated the security outfit commitment in the state, “The mandate we have is to sanitize the state and we are on course. Anything contributing in one way or the other towards the desecration of the state and aiding criminal activities will surely give way. That we can assure Anambra people.” he maintained.
