APGA Officially Endorses President Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election

In a significant political development, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement was made public at a high-profile event held in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, where prominent members of the APGA leadership, including Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, voiced their unwavering support for the president. This announcement marks a major political move, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the 2027 presidential race.

The event, which was attended by key APGA figures, was a show of solidarity between the party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Soludo, who has been a prominent figure within the party, was at the forefront of the endorsement, emphasizing APGA’s commitment to national unity and development. Soludo pointed out that the decision to back President Tinubu was not just a political maneuver but also a reflection of APGA’s long-standing dedication to ensuring that Nigeria progresses toward a more united and prosperous future.

Governor Soludo took the opportunity to speak about the importance of national cohesion in a time when Nigeria faces various challenges, including insecurity, economic instability, and ethnic divisions. He made it clear that APGA believes in the power of collaboration and that the party was ready to work with the federal government, and indeed, other progressive political forces across the country, to foster unity. Soludo also used the platform to underscore the significance of alliances in achieving greater national stability, stating that no single political party or group could address Nigeria’s complex issues alone.

A key aspect of Soludo’s speech was his praise for President Tinubu’s leadership, particularly highlighting the president’s strategic decisions aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s image on the global stage. One such decision was the appointment of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of APGA’s founding father, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, as a minister in the president’s cabinet. Soludo described this appointment as a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding the contributions of APGA to the country’s political landscape. He noted that the gesture had fostered goodwill and trust between the two parties, which helped solidify APGA’s position in supporting Tinubu for another term.

“APGA is a party that has always sought the best interests of Nigeria, and we see in President Tinubu someone who shares that vision,” Soludo said, as he addressed the gathering. “Our support is rooted in the belief that his leadership will continue to steer Nigeria toward greater achievements.”

The endorsement also comes at a time when Nigeria’s political environment is becoming increasingly competitive, with multiple parties positioning themselves for the 2027 elections. The backing of President Tinubu by APGA is seen as a strategic move that could bolster his political base, especially in the South East, where the party has significant influence. APGA, which has a strong presence in the region, could play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the election, especially as the region has historically been a key battleground in Nigerian politics.

APGA’s National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, also delivered remarks during the event, emphasizing the party’s commitment to working with the Tinubu administration to pursue national unity. Ezeokenwa reiterated that APGA is firmly focused on the long-term goals of peace and progress for Nigeria, and as such, it is ready to align with President Tinubu and the APC to achieve these objectives.

“Our party believes in the vision of a united Nigeria, and we are willing to work with President Tinubu’s government to make this a reality,” said Ezeokenwa. “This is not just about politics; it is about the future of our children and the well-being of the next generation of Nigerians.”

The announcement of APGA’s endorsement of President Tinubu for the 2027 election is expected to have a ripple effect across the political spectrum. APGA’s decision to support the president is seen as a strategic alignment with the ruling APC, signaling a potential realignment in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 polls. This move could influence other political parties and factions as they prepare for the upcoming election, with APGA’s influence in the South East and other regions of the country being a significant factor to consider.

As Nigeria looks ahead to the 2027 elections, the APGA endorsement serves as a reminder that political alliances in the country can be fluid and often have far-reaching implications. Whether this support will translate into tangible electoral gains for President Tinubu remains to be seen, but what is certain is that this partnership between APGA and the APC has the potential to reshape the dynamics of the 2027 presidential race.
