Bauchi electoral commission announces timetable for LG election.

 

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission has released timetable and guidelines for Local Government elections slated for August 17, 2024 in the state.

Chairman of the commission, Ahmad Makama disclosed this, during a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters on Tuesday.

According to the released timetable, “campaign by political parties will commence on 18th to 16th August 2024 the eve of the election day.

“Activities include supervision of political party’s primaries, collection and submission of aspiration forms by political parties, and screening of candidates which will take place from 15th July to 8th August 2024.”

Makama added, “Other activities from 9th to 15th August 2024 are the training of Local Government Returning Officers, Supervisory Officers, Presiding Officers, and other election personnel as well as the distribution of sensitive election materials.”

The commission had earlier in the day embarked on an interactive session with Chairmen of Political Parties on the commission’s schedules of activities.

The session was attended by sixteen registered political parties while the All Progressive Congress APC the major opposition party in the state did not attend.

The chairman disclosed that the commission will meet with the Heads of security Agencies and Stakeholders on the 10th and 11th of July 2024 as part of preparation to ensure hitch free election.
