Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, Quits PDP

October 15, 2025

This is not the best of times for the people’s democratic party, PDP, barely twenty four hours after the governor of Enugu state, Peter Mbah, crossed from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, his counterpart in Bayelsa State Senator Douye Diri, has also formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Diri, who announced his decision on Wednesday at the Executive Council chamber of the Bayelsa State Government House, did not disclose the political party he intends to join, though reports suggest a move to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC soon.
