
A frontline Niger Delta leader and respected voice in the Ijaw nation, Engr. Elvis Donkemezuo (FNSE), has commended the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for his decisive role in restoring peace to Rivers State following months of political unrest that led to the imposition of emergency rule in March 2025.
In a statement issued to the press and published in national dailies, Engr. Donkemezuo praised Wike’s steadfastness, noting that his commitment to dialogue, unity, and purposeful leadership was instrumental in restoring stability to the oil-rich state. He emphasized that peace in Rivers State is not only crucial for local progress but also vital for the overall stability and development of the Niger Delta region.
“I wish to sincerely thank His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Wike, Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in ensuring the restoration of peace in Rivers State and for his role in bringing an end to the period of emergency rule,” the statement read.
“Your courage, wisdom, and commitment to stability have brought hope and relief to our people, reaffirming the power of dialogue, inclusiveness, and purposeful leadership in resolving conflict. History will remember this as a decisive moment when peace triumphed over division and unity was placed above political interests.”
Engr. Donkemezuo also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for what he described as a “timely intervention” that prevented a near-catastrophic scenario. According to him, the President’s leadership was critical in ensuring that Rivers State returned to democratic governance, creating the enabling environment for sustainable growth and development.
“I also wish to thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his timely intervention that saved an almost catastrophic scenario. His leadership has ensured the return of peace to Rivers State, thereby creating the foundation for smooth and rapid development under democratic rule—a true panacea for progress,” he added.
The restoration of peace in Rivers State is being hailed across the Niger Delta as a milestone achievement, setting the stage for renewed development and unity in the region.
