An explosion on Monday night rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline at Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, the incident reportedly occurred along the critical export pipeline that transports crude to the Bonny Terminal.
The affected section of the major pipeline is currently on fire, the exact cause of the explosion is yet unknown.

Authorities have yet to determine and clarify whether the incident was caused by human interference or equipment failure.
Tension is currently high in Rivers state amid recent serving of impeachment notice on governor Fubara by lawmakers loyal to the FCT minister, Nysome Wike and threats by militant groups to attack oil installations in response to supreme court judgement that ordered the withholding of Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis.
