The Federal government has cautioned citizens that several communities across fourteen states may face flooding as a result of heavy rainfall
In a statement signed by the Director, Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department in the Federal Ministry of Environment, Usman Abdullahi Bokani, released on Thursday by the National Flood Early Warning Centre (FEWS Centre) indicated that the downpours could trigger floods between September 4 and 8, 2025.

The ministry urged relevant agencies and stakeholders to remain vigilant and requested updates from state governments and relevant stakeholders on any major developments.
The states and areas expected to experience heavy rainfall and flooding include:
Abia: Eziama, Umuahia
Akwa Ibom: Oron
Cross River: Edor, Ikom, Itigidi, Akpap
Ebonyi: Afikpo
Imo: Okigwe, Otoko
Kano: Gwarzo, Karaye
Zamfara: Anka, Gummi, Kaura Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, Bukuyum
Taraba: Dampar, Duchi, Garkowa, Gassol, Gembu, Gun Gun Bodel, Kambari, Mayo Ranewo, Mutum Biyu, Bandawa, Ngaruwa
Yobe: Geidam, Kanama, Potiskum
Plateau: Langtang, Shendam, Wase
Borno: Ngala
Niger: Sarki Pawa
